Myplace includes the STACK question type, a sophisticated computer aided assessment system for mathematics, science and related disciplines.

STACK (the System for Teaching and Assessment using a Computer algebra Kernel) can accept full algebraic input with validation and feedback. Students can answer line by line and STACK will follow the validity of their logic and score accordingly, even if an earlier error causes the numerical values in the following steps to be wrong. Randomness can be built in, within structured question templates. For science and engineering topics, STACK supports dimensional quantities.

The project website - including a demonstration site - is here.

A STACK user's group at Strathclyde is being formed. If you are interested in taking part, please contact Lindsey Corson.
